Dear friends,
First, I would like to thank you all for your interest and involvement in the "Green Movement" at large...
For quite some time (for many of you, nearly 3 years) you have been receiving a monthly update from me as (the former) Communications Chair and Board of Directors of the PTNC-USGBC (Piedmont Triad NC USGBC Chapter).
It is with some regret that I’ve recently resigned from my position with the PTNC-USGBC. I’ve been involved with the group since its infancy (as Sustainable Triad), and as a founding member and supporter, it’s great to see that they have finally achieved full chapter status...
With that in mind we come to the current state of this listserv and website.
Over the past years while building this network, I’ve encountered many people who inquired about information in regards to a wide variety of green/sustainable topics, ranging from general green building topics, to wondering if I know where to purchase solar panels, or if I knew of a local green restaurant, coffee shop, or bio-diesel station.
This is where this listserv, network and web site come in.
The intent of the Piedmont Triad Green Directory is to serve as a *non-biased*, non-denominational, independent resource for all things Green and Sustainable in the Piedmont Triad of NC.
The coming web site will consist of several parts; a directory of businesses ranging from green building entities and suppliers to sustainable merchants, stores and shoppes, as well as non-profit organizations and community groups.
Our plan is to archive and promote a calendar of events, provide an information database, an on-line forum listed by category, web links galore, and our monthly mailing list detailing events, classes, programs, tours, happenings, etc….
*Please note that we will not be sending out individual business advertisements!!*
Our intent is to serve the Piedmont Triad community at large with resources and information for a Greener, healthier and more sustainable way of living!
Currently, we’re working on a form for inclusion into the directory, and will have it available for download shortly. We’ll also be sending this out as a general e-mail, so keep an eye out for it.
*This is a free and open to the public grassroots-oriented service*
