Local group gets approval to start 'green' chapter
The Business Journal of the Greater Triad Area:
A group of Triad residents seeking to start a U.S. Green Building Council chapter won approval Thursday.
That means the Triad could see an active U.S. Green Building Council chapter take shape in the next six months to a year.
Heather Gardner, of Winston-Salem architecture firm Walter Robbs Callahan & Pierce and acting chair of a group of more than 100 local architects, contractors and interested citizens who applied for chapter status in December, said the group got the final nod on Thursday.
The group won preliminary approval almost two weeks ago from the USGBC South East Regional Council. The Chapter Steering Committee gave final approval this week.
There are Council chapters in Charlotte and Raleigh, but group members have said that creating a formal, Triad-based organization will provide a central network for education, public awareness and other resources.
